Join the NAMI Delaware Legacy Circle
Your will or trust document provides a clear and specific understanding of how you want to transfer your assets to the people you love—and to those charitable organizations that you have supported during your lifetime.
As the ultimate charitable gift, you can make a bequest to NAMI Delaware in your will or living trust to ensure the strength and success of our education, advocacy and public awareness programs for years.
If you have named NAMI Delaware in your will, please email cmoore@namide.org or call 302-427-0787 and give us an opportunity to welcome you to the NAMI Delaware Legacy Circle, a select group of NAMI supporters who are dedicated to ensuring NAMI Delaware’s ability to serve generations.
Many of our Legacy Circle members provide additional details about their plans by completing our NAMI Delaware Legacy Circle Gift Notification and Recognition Form (provided below). You are not obligated to do so, but it is the best way to notify us of your intentions and ensure that we can fulfill your wishes.
If you are considering leaving a legacy gift to NAMI Delaware in your will or trust, or by beneficiary designation, our Easy Ways of Giving sheet explains several options. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have questions or would like to learn other ways to leave a Legacy Gift.
For your convenience, we have provided sample language to share with your attorney to include NAMI Delaware in your will.
Legacy Circle Gift Notification and Recognition Form
We are grateful for supporters who share with us their wish to leave a gift in a will or trust, or by beneficiary designation, to the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Delaware Foundation (NAMI Delaware). Understanding your wishes is extremely important to us. Many supporters provide additional detail about their plans by completing and returning this form. We recognize that your gift is revocable and that this information is non-binding, and hope you will update us if the details of your gift change. I assure you, we will keep this information completely confidential.
Consider a Charitable Remainder Trusts or Charitable Lead Trusts
A Charitable Remainder Trust is a separately managed and highly personalized life income gift. This provides for payment to NAMI Delaware for life or a specified term, which cannot exceed 20 years. At death, or the end of the term, the remaining trust assets (the remainder interest) will be distributed to NAMI Delaware. In creating your trust, you can appoint the trustee, designate the beneficiary and select the term of the trust.
A Charitable Lead Trust is essentially the reverse of the life income gifts described above. The trust income is first paid to NAMI Delaware; the charity’s interest leads the way. With this trust, you transfer assets to a trustee who makes payments to NAMI Delaware for a specified number of years, after which the assets are transferred to your heirs. The Charitable Lead Trust allows you to pass assets to your children and grandchildren completely free or substantially free of all estate and gift taxes. This is a good option for those in top estate and gift tax brackets.
