  • In 2019, suicide was the leading cause of death for Asian/Pacific Islanders (ages 15 to 24) and Native Hawaiians/Pacific Islanders (15-24).
  • In 2019, suicide was the second leading cause of death for blacks or African Americans (15 to 24), American Indian/Alaska Natives (ages 10 to 34), and Hispanics (ages 15 to 34).
  • American Indians/Alaskan Natives report higher rates of posttraumatic stress disorder and alcohol dependence than any other ethic/ racial group.
